This self-initiated project reimagines the life of Hans Christian Andersen as a scroll-based, interactive timeline — allowing users to explore his biography decade by decade, with selected works embedded in historical context. The layout is built around a modular grid system and vertical flow, supporting a calm reading experience while guiding users naturally through time. I designed a fixed navigation menu that anchors the timeline and enables quick jumps between decades, maintaining orientation within a non-linear story. To enhance immersion without distracting from content, I combined soft transitions and subtle on-scroll animations with a neutral color palette and serif/sans type pairing for readability. Each featured story is presented in a digital reading format, supported by custom vector illustrations. These visual anchors serve as interpretive cues — not just decoration, but a way to evoke mood and era without relying on heavy interface elements. The result is a quiet, structured experience that treats history and narrative with equal weight — blending editorial clarity with emotional pacing.
